Translation

For clients outside Thailand, we charge in US dollars per word of source text. The fee includes editing and proof-reading by separate staff. Our rates average around 30% or less of what overseas companies charge their clients.

For work that comes locally, we are likely to charge in Thai baht. Usually only paper documentation is available, so we will base any per-page quotation on a faxed sample.

DTP

We normally charge by the hour, but can come to a per-page rate on evaluating a sample. Thai DTP takes considerably more time than DTP in a European language. (see our Thai Localization Guide for details)

Website localization

As for "normal" translation, we charge based on a word count of the source files. We usually seek a higher rate to compensate to the extra work involved in preparing Thai HTML. For graphics and toolbars with internal text that must be localized we will provide an estimate based on the number of hours required to complete the task.

Glossary production

We charge per hour or per term.

Editing and proof-reading (only)

We charge at 35-40% the rate of translation. However, if the translation is very poor (and we see this often), we might consider that the previous work saves us almost no time, in which case we would have to regard this as straightforward translation.

Audio & Video

- voice talents are hired at a per day rate (less than half US rates)
- translation is charged at the per-word rate described above
- Rental of Studio for mixing/editing is charged at a per hour rate (less than half US rates)

Other work

For most other kinds of work such as screen captures, dialog box resizing, we charge on an hourly basis.
